Attendance
We plan to hold GCOM 7380 fully in-person, in RRH 118. Active participation in class is important and is rewarded accordingly (see the grading policies).
Let me know via email in advance if you plan to miss a class. You will not be penalized for missing up to two class sessions during the semester. Use these freebies wisely! After that, your participation grade for any absence will be zero.
[UPDATE] Given the evolving health policies at UVA and the threat of COVID, you will have no negative consequences to your participation score, nor any extra work to do if you will be absent more than twice and you present (email is fine) some justification: doctor note, test, etc.
In any case, you are always responsible for covering the materials, monitoring the web site, the Teams messages, and for handing in your homework on time. Not attending or not paying attention is not an acceptable excuse.
Etiquette
We are a professional school, and you are expected to behave like a professional. Practice integrity and intellectual rigor. Respect your classmates. Be punctual.
