As you progress in your career, you might even find yourself evaluating investment opportunities that involve data technologies.

Whether you will be a team member, a consultant, or a manager, this course will increase your ability to work with the data technologies you will need to do your job.

You will learn:

1. Database essentials
In the first part of the course you will learn how to store, search, and modify business data in remote databases. You will be able to

  • search and modify data in databases using SQL
  • integrate information across different sources
  • design simple databases
  • create relational tables and views
  • use tools that partly automate database design.

2. Business Intelligence
In the second part of the course, you will learn tools and techniques to produce reports, simple analytics, and visualizations. You will

  • create BI dashboards and visualizations with SQL, EXCEL, and Power BI
  • design a star-schema data warehouse using MySQL
  • create and use a simple star-schema data warehouse
  • create and use Pivot tables.

3. Data Management
The third and last part of the course will focus on acquiring foundational literacy and an ability to discuss broad data management topics that will help you in interviews and in your first job. Example topics include:

  • Ensuring data quality
  • Securing data
  • Understanding data privacy
  • Evaluating Blockchain technologies
  • Assess the potential for data monetization.
