Grading
Assignments, weights, policies

Expect a rigorous course where you will work and learn a considerable amount. Grades are based on results, not on effort. Please do not
argue for a better grade based on the amount of effort you poured into an assignment.
Based on past experience, I forecast a class average GPA around 3.4.
Your final grade will be computed as the weighted average of the following components (I might tweak it a little as we go):
- Modeling the SmallBankDB 5%
- SQL 1 5%
- SQL 2 10%
- SQL 3 5%
- UBC-DS ERD data modeling 10%
- UBC-DS data integration (team) 10%
- UBC-DS ERD data warehouse (team) 10%
- Pivot 5%
- Excel 5%
- Tableau 10%
- Participation 10%
- WINIT (extra participation credit) 5%
- Final project (optional individual) 15%
Detailed descriptions of these assignments will be posted on this web site as the class progresses.
If you verified the math you noticed that the sum is 105%. This is because WINIT counts as extra credit for participation.
