Performance Evaluation

How will I be evaluated?

Your final grade will be determined as a weighted average of the following:

• Presentation & leave-behind deck 65%
• Participation 30%
• Pre-departure work 5%

Instructions and evaluation criteria for the deliverables are detailed in the deliverables page.

There are penalties for late submissions: 10% up to 72 hours late and 25% for any submission after that.

Participation

A highly professional demeanor is expected throughout the whole stay in Argentina.  You are assuming the role of an international consultant and will represent the University of Virginia abroad.

This course allows you to experience international consulting in a real-world setting.  Jump in with both feet!  Do not think of yourself as a team of graduate students taking a course, but as professional members of a small consulting team hired to perform a project audit.  The experience should feel like a real-world consulting engagement, and your mission should be to deliver real business value to your client.

Note: not all team members will receive the same grade.  Based on confidential peer feedback from the team members, and on faculty and staff observations, we will adjust individual grades up or down from the baseline team grade.  The goal is to integrate both the success of the team AND your individual contribution towards it

AI Tools

I see substantive productivity benefits in the utilization of AI tools in business, and I expect that in your job you have some access to these tools.  Thus, in this course you are encouraged to use GenAI apps such as ChatGPT and Copilot.  However, be warned that these tools sometimes produce incorrect or excessively complicated answers. This means that they are not valid reference sources. In other words,"The AI made me do it", or "That is what the AI said" are NOT valid excuses for incorrect answers or assignments. You are fully responsible for what you hand in.
