Attendance
I plan to hold the course in-person. There will be no synchronous connecting via Zoom. Active participation in class is important and is rewarded accordingly (see the grading policies). However, I will record our sessions and made them available upon request.
You will not be penalized for missing up to two class sessions during the semester. Use these freebies wisely! After that, your
participation grade for any absence will be zero.
Exception: given the evolving health policies at UVA and the threat of COVID, you will have no negative consequences to your
participation score, nor will have any extra work to do if you will be absent more than twice and you present (email is fine) some
justification: doctor note, test, etc.
In any case, you are always responsible for covering the materials, monitoring the web site and the Teams messages. Not attending
or not paying attention is not an acceptable excuse.
